Threat to acquire ISKCON’s Land

A Report

In order to turn the twin cities of Secunderabad and Hyderabad overnight into a London or Newyork, the zealous Andhra Pradesh Government invoked Land Acquisition Act on ISKCON Secunderabad Temple on 5th Novemeber affecting the temple and most of its land. This was done to widen the main street on which ISKCON Secunderabad temple is situated. We pleaded with the Government to revoke the order but our pleas fell on deaf ears. The Government and officials even refused to meet with the devotees, let alone revoke the order. Shockingly and surprisingly, other religious structures on the same stretch never received any demolition notice. To make the matters worse, the unmannerly officials even came inside the temple to measure it (of course they were duly chased out).

Completely cornered, the devotees of the twin cities, Secunderabad and Hyderabad decided to go public. Massive propaganda all over the city was arranged and in no time all many Hindu groups and political parties came on board. Indian Opposition leader, Mr L.K.Advani, who had come to the city for a few hours to address a rally, met the devotees, leaving aside all his engagements. A press conference was called to announce the launch of statewide ‘Save The Temple Movement’. The media sprung into action and soon it was an ‘issue’. At the conference, the 19th of November was announced as the date for a massive demonstration to highlight the government’s gross insensitivity, injustice and discrimination.

On the D-day, at 9.30am sharp, three thousand chanters came to the Collector’s office. The crowd included devotees from ISKCON Hyderabad, Secunderabad, Rajamundry, Anantpur, Tirupati and hindu sympathizers. Andhra Pradesh ISKCON leaders like HG.Vedanta Caitanya das, HG.Satyagopinath Das, HG.Srivatsa Das, HG.Mahasrnga Das were present and put in their best efforts. Who’s who of hindu organizations and politicians were present with their full entourage. Hundreds of enthusiastic matajis and kids deserve special mention. The entire traffic came to standstill and the police cordoned off this main thoroughfare and the city froze…….for the next 7 hours.

What was planned to be a 1 hour affair turned into a 7 hour affair with the Government eventually backing down. The Collector told the police that he will not go to meet devotees but devotees were insistent that they will not go to his doorstep. Finally the Collector had to come to the devotees and he assured the devotees that he would not take any untoward step in this direction.
All the TV Channels telecast the demonstration live and the entire print media was present. Newspapers are filled with front page coverage. And the holy name reverberated in many millions of homes in India through television.

Prasadam and drinks were continuously distributed and even the police enjoyed the chanting and prasadam to their heart’s content. There were times when the kirtana was slowing down and the police would indicate with body language and hands, “keep going man, keep going”! Newspapers are splashed with photos of both Hindu and political leaders (which include MLAs and MPs) putting on tilaka, dancing with karatals and taking lunch prasadam sitting down on the busiest thoroughfare of the city.

To conclude, the Andhra Pradesh Government’s attempt to seize ISKCON land seems to have been averted or at least postponed for an indefinite period but still we have to watch out and I request the worldwide community of devotees to stay tuned in and lend us sympathy and support as and when needed to protect Srila Prabhupada’s temple. Devotees here are determined to never ever take such a move against Srila Prabhupada’s movement lying down.

Editor’s View

These are just glimpses of things to come when the country is ruled by mlechaas and Yavanas (eaters of cow flesh and those who are outside the vedic religion). Lord Krishna talked about four varnas in Bhagavad Gita. And amongst them the Kshatriya class plays a very prominent role in the administration and preserving Dharma. In this Kali Yuga it is already been predicted that there will be no qualified Ksatriyas to rule and it will be the people who are lower than Sudras who will rule the kingdom by sheer money and muscle power backed by vote bank of equally ignorant public.

This is very true with Indian politics arena, there is no single political party that can take any of these issues related to Sanatana Dharma. The Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) is one exception it has time and again stood for Hindu causes but in democracy its the game of numbers. So it is always under constant pressure to keep everyone in good humour from the coalition partners to all communities.  And since it lacks spiritual vision and direction it has to cater to broad range of interests weakening its efficacy in the turbulent political arena. But in spite of all that as on today it is the only organisation that has the leverage to protect the cause of Sanathana Dharma.

ISKCON is the one of the organisation in the forefront of spreading Vedic culture . It has its temples, preaching centers, restaurants and farm communities all over the world in 5 continents numbering about 550. There have been many attempts in the past by atheists, communists and fanatical elements of other religions to stifle its growth in various parts of the world right from its inception in 1965. And many such times the Sangh Parivar has come to its rescue. To name a few,

1. In 1974 The ISKCON’s make shift temple property in Juhu Mumbai was almost demolished by a corrupt Municipal Officer of Bombay Municipality playing into the hands of real estate tycoon Mr Nair who sold the property to ISKCON. It took Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thakeray’s intervention to save the land in the nick of the time before the sanctum sanctorum was to be touched. Srila Prabhupada engaged devotees to do a intense media campaign against action and turn the public in
its favor.

2. In 1984 ISKCON’s prime property donated by George Harrison the Bhaktivedanta Manor was all set to be attached to the Goverment due to some complaints of public inconveniences in London. It took months of protests by VHP, Pandava Sena and other Hindu frontal organisations to secure the Land.

3. In 2002 the WB CPM goverment refused to give permission to ISKCON World Headquarters in Mayapur to construct the Vedic planetarium on its own land. It even refused to meet ISKCON Patron and scion of the Ford family Albert Ford or Ambarish Dasa on this matter who later met the then Prime minister Atal Behari Vajpayee.

4. In 2005 there was a grave threat to ISKCON farm community in Kazakhstan by the Muslim goverment who wanted to usurp the legally acquired land pressured by the land sharks. They declared the ISKCON property as illegal and have already demolished the houses of some of the members
and are threatning to take over the temple while leaving the properties of other communities untouched . It sparked protests in New Delhi and many parts of the world by Hindu frontal organisations like RSS, VHP and BJP which forced them to go slow on their intended moves. But the threat still loomes large over the devotees on the Land.

So that is the sorry state of affairs in the India and the world and Sanathana Dharma is under threat from various quarters. So it is high time the people come to know of these things and mobilise and act to preserve Sanathana Dharma.

The few things we should definitely do are,

The first and foremost thing to do is to preach authentic Sanathana Dharma to people. The lack of it that is the prime cause of the apathy amongst the followers of Sanatana Dharma (Shall we call them Hindus). Srila Prabhupada the founder acharya of the Krishna consciousness movement would say there is nothing lacking in this world except the Krishna consciousness. And that is the ultimate solution for all social ills. This would lead to the next phase when Hindus can really identify what is in the interest of practicing and preserving Sanatana Dharma and unite for the common cause.

Although a Sadhaka a practitioner of Sanathana Dharma aspires for a peaceful and serene ambiance for his spiritual pursuits he is not averse of showing his might if it comes to preserve Dharma. That is emphasised throughout Srimad Bhagavad Gita. Where Lord Krishna asked Arjona to fight for Dharma. Just 500 years ago, Lord Chaitanya the founder of Sankirtana Movement organized civil disobedience movement when the Muslim landlord Chand Kazi imposed restrictions on his Sankirtana Party. So we have a whole history of acharyas standing up to situations and not buckling under pressure.

Other things we can do

1. We should strongly counter the false propaganda carried out by secularists, communists, atheistic intellectuals and secular partisan media in all spheres. We should contribute articles to newspapers and media emphasizing on our Krishna conscious perspective.

2. We should create awareness amongst people about the current state of affairs and educate them on Hindu issues and utilize this opportunity to preach Krishna consciousness. Which any way is the
essence of Sanathana Dharma tailor-made for Kali Yuga.

3. We should support the political party that promises favorable situation for propagation of Sanathana Dharma. That doesn’t really mean that we are getting into politics. Srila Prabhupada envisioned devotees being a part of the political administration. Since the time is not ripe enough we can definitely support genuine political parties, while at the same time keep our consciouness away frommurkier part of politics. Much like Lord Krishna says in Bhagavad Gita “padma patra ivambhasa” like a lotus leaf in water or a smart tortoise using its limbs when required. All other religious followers do this mob voting to the parties favourable to them and they reap the benefits. So the pseudo-secular parties reap the minority votes and with the divided Hindu community they can safely hope to capture power.

4. We should utilize anything and everything to push forward the Krishna Consciousness. We should support temples, institutions that are involved in protecting and preserving Sanathana Dharma and establish favourable relationships with them of course without compromising on our ideologies.

And ultimately it is Krishna who protects his devotees and this movement. By his sweet will he sometimes puts devotees into anxiety to increase his dependence on him. And also to engage these institutions in his service. As Srila Prabhupada says God helps those who help themselves (Purport to BG 6.25)

Can religion and administration be mutually exclusive?

Beware of Secular Media

by Gurumurthy published in Indian Express.
‘Secular’ India and Sankaracharya

‘Every one is equal before law’. This is what the ‘seculars’ keep saying whether the issue is the Ram Temple in Ayodhya or the arrest of the Sankaracharya. Let us see how equal the law has been in ’secular’ India.

Shia Muslims had gone to the Supreme Court in 1980s complaining that the Varanasi Municipality had permitted the Sunni Muslims to bury their dead in the land belonging to Shia Muslims. The Court directed the governments of UP and India to restore the land back to the Shias. ‘Secular’ governments came back to tell the Court that implementing the order would mean law and order problem! And the Supreme Court stayed its own order, which stands stayed even today, that is for over 16 years! In the year 1986, the Supreme Court gave to divorced Muslim women the same rights which all women in India get. The Rajiv Gandhi government changed the law to undo the Supreme Court judgement as the ruling of the highest court had led to law and order issues on the street! So this settled the supreme power of mob over law and the ’secular’ acceptance of the might of the mob over the rule of law. But when it came to the Ayodhya issue, the ’secular’ chorus was that the judgement of the courts should be respected in full. So law binds only those who are considered not ’secular’ by the seculars.

Move on further. The present generation would not remember that a convicted Sanjay Gandhi was acquitted the moment Indira Gandhi came back to power in 1980. Ram Jethmalani, the special prosecutor against Sanjay, told the Supreme Court that ‘the accused had suddenly turned the prosecutor’! Subsequently all cases against Indira Gandhi were withdrawn or dissolved as she had become the Prime Minister. The ’secular’ media, parties kept mum. Come to more recent times. It is no secret that Ottavio Quottrocchi brokered the bribe between the Gandhi family and the Bofors. He ran away from law and courts in India, abused the Indian courts as capable of dispensing only injustice! Yet Sonia Gandhi certified him as ‘an innocent man persecuted by the Vajpayee government’. So there is another exception, besides mob might, to the rule that law is supreme, and that is the Gandhi family, from Indira to Sonia. Yet it is the Congress Party which says no one should be above the law! Every ’secular’ party finds new virtues in Congress and Sonia and over crowds to associate with them.

Move on to the purest of seculars, the Left. The thirty year CPM rule is Bengal has resulted in 30000 political murders! Yes thirty thousand. This is what not the enemies of CPM say, but as per the statistics sworn to by the ally of CPM today, the Congress Party. Recently a Dalit was burnt in broad day light in Bengal, in front of his wife and children and the police, because he belonged to a non-left party. The entire national media kept silent, and so was the local police. Yet the left is the guardian of law. A Lalu Yadav, who should be with Pappu Yadav in jail, is now the Railway Minister of India. A Shibu Soren is relieved of all his guilt of murdering his own secretary, because he has been granted bail! A Taslmimuddin who was gunrunning for the terrorists too is a minister. All of them qualify as ’secular’ parties, leaders and collectively as ’secular’ India!

Now go on to the commercial world. The Reliance group habitually breached all laws. It was a delinquent from its juvenile days. Its success was directly proportionate to its defiance of law. Its brand was built on its capacity to breach law and get away with it. Reliance was ‘respected’ for its success against the law. With the sole exception of late Ramnath Goenka, the entire media not only endorsed the filthy wealth of Reliance, but also commended it. It even shared and profited by it. The ’secular’ media, personalities, parties and leaders vie with one anther to be seen with the Ambanis. Save a couple of exceptions like a Jaswant Singh of the BJP or Gurudas Dasgupta of the CPI, no one dares to cross the Reliance path. Otherwise Reliance is a melting pot of the seculars and those not so ’secular’. The reason: Reliance underwrites the election budgets of most political parties. So, that it excelled in crime made no difference to the seculars particularly.

It is this ’secular’ India – represented by the media, polity and intelligentsia – that has taken a ‘highly principled stand’ in the Sankaracharya case that the rule of law must prevail. ‘Sankaracharya is like Papu Yadav after all’ secular India says. So denial of bail to him is okay. All ’secular’ parties have taken the stand that law must prevail, but on Sankaracharya only. But the legal strike on Sankaracharya is ahead of law and evidence. Investigation did not precede his arrest, but has started with it. Still the entire ’secular’ media, polity and intelligentsia have endorsed it. The only fault of the Sankaracharya had been that he was never in the ’secular’ bandwagon. Had he been may be this would not have happened to him. So the law is equal for seculars. Not necessarily for others. He may even be a Sankaracharya!

Today the Sankaracharya is free man acquitted of all charges by the Supreme Court. But the yellow jounalism has demonised to satisfy thier thirst for Hindu bashing

Hindu Dharma Acharya Sabha

Launch of the Hindu Dharma Acharya Sabha

(held at Chennai on November 29, 30 & December 1, 2003)

1. The Acharya Sabha, comprising the Heads of various Sampradayas within the single composite whole known from time immemorial as Sanatana Dharma, deliberated comprehensively for three days on November 29, 30 and December 1, 2003 on several issues of concern and importance for the Hindu Society.

2. This Acharya Sabha crystallizes the collective Hindu consciousness and speaks now and shall speak in future, in a single Hindu voice.

3. The substance of the deliberations is mentioned below in a brief statement and is followed by the Resolutions passed.

*STATEMENT*

Whereas, Sanatana Dharma is a living continuity over several thousand years, catering to the spiritual, religious and cultural needs of diverse people of Bharata Varsha and embodies an inclusive, all integrating philosophy synonymous with the national ethos of this ancient country and civilization;

Whereas the inclusive nature of Sanatana Dharma which is also called Hinduism which seeks to accommodate several concepts in human efforts to understand the relation between Divinity, Human being and the Universe, has been in the past, and is now too, misunderstood as lack of unity;

Whereas within the Hindu fold, followers of Sanatana Dharma enjoy full freedom in terms of altar and modes of worship;

Whereas Sanatana Dharma accepts the same freedom for followers of other religions of the world;

Whereas Sanatana Dharma has never in the past sought, nor seeks now, to subvert, conquer or denigrate other religious persuasions and faiths;

Whereas this approach is being taken advantage of by the organized, aggressive religious traditions with origins from outside Bharat to such an extent that there has arisen a clear and present danger to Sanatana Dharma;

Whereas such aggressive religions which exist in the country derive all types of support and sustenance from abroad including from governments;

 *THE ACHARYA SABHA PASSES THE FOLLOWING RESOLUTIONS AND CALLS FOR THEIR IMPLEMENTATION BY APPROPRIATE MEANS:*

*RESOLUTIONS;*

1. Nomenclature: Henceforth the Sabha be known under the title “The Hindu Dharma Acharya Sabha”.

2. Religious Freedom: It is resolved -

to proclaim that religious freedom means freedom to follow one’s own religion or faith and peaceful practices accordingly;

that religious freedom does not mean disruption of peace and harmony within a family or society at any level in the name of religion;

that freedom of religion may include freedom to expound the tenets and beliefs of a religion but does not include the right to denigrate any other religion or to mislead an individual or a community or to use subtle or blatant, implicit or explicit, aggressive means to bring people, singly or in group into one’s own religious fold.

3. Religious Conversion:  It is resolved -

to reject the theory put forward that people are not converted but convert themselves out of spiritual and religious conviction;

to call religious conversion by denigrating the religion of the targeted person as violence committed against the person’s soul, family, community, culture and religion

to tell the world that conversion is not a movement to enhance the spirituality of a people but it is an organized campaign to surround, attack and significantly reduce the number of followers of Sanatana Dharma;

to call upon the State governments to follow the footsteps of Tamilnadu and Gujarat and legislate to place a ban on such religious conversions as by force, fraud or allurements, overt and convert and implement the legislation vigorously;

to appeal to the leadership of proselytizing religions in the country to review and change their theological disposition towards Sanatana Dharma (Hinduism) to promote harmony and avoid any conflict, violence and disruption in the Indian Society.

4. Welfare of Temples, control and use of funds and property of temples:

Whereas the temples of Hindus are not only places of religious worship but centres of cultural concerns and activities;

Whereas consolidated Statewide legislations to cover and control places of worship, their properties and financial income and management apply only to Hindu temples under the ostensibly public purpose of improvement of facilities to devotees and better management;

Whereas no such legislation is there to places of worship of other religions in the country notwithstanding whether they suffer from malfeasance and mismanagement;

Whereas the income accruing to temples from Hindu devotees are being merged in general Government funds and loses its sacred identity;

Whereas such temple incomes are not being utilized primarily for the welfare of the temples and Hindu devotees;

Whereas such incomes are being utilized indirectly through the Budget mechanism for other than the cause of Hindu temples and Hindu Dharma;

*IT IS THEREFORE RESOLVED:*

To call upon the State and Central Governments -

1. To undertake only where there is a genuine requirement, temple-specific legislation, ensuring in the process that the temple property and income are managed by genuinely autonomous bodies associating only Hindus of good repute and genuine commitment in the management;

2. To apply similar legislation to the institutions of other religions also, as may be appropriate or necessary;

3. To eventually remove all controls on Hindu temples, religious and charitable institutions, consistent with the principle that the Secular State shall not interfere in the religious affairs of any religion;

4. To encourage and help the people engaged in the retrieval of ancient temples, in rebuilding destroyed temples and preserving ancient and sacred sites of Hindu heritage.

5. Common Civil Code:

Whereas the constitution of the country has made a commitment and has given a promise to the people of the country to provide a common civil law for all the citizens of the country; and

Whereas the criminal law and related statues are applicable uniformly to all citizens of the country;

Whereas there is no ethnic minority in India;

*IT IS RESOLVED :*

To call upon the Government of India and all political parties to rapidly move towards implementing the Constitutional commitment without being swayed by fear of or favour to the non-Hindu religions in the country under the false pretext of minority safeguard;

To extend the privileges and rights enjoyed by the religious minority to the Hindus also.

6. Ban on Cow-slaughter;

Whereas the State and Central governments in the country have been and are overtly sensitive to the claims and demands of Christians and Muslims in the country on the grounds of their religious sentiments;

Whereas the governments do not take due note of and respect of the religious sentiments of Hindus despite their being in vast majority in the country;

Whereas the Constitution of the country makes a specific promise to ban the slaughter of cows;

*IT IS RESOLVED -*

to call upon all Governments in the country to honestly implement this Constitutional commitment of ban on cow-slaughter and to take steps necessary for the proper upkeep of the cow that is sacred to the Hindus.

7. Upliftment of Hindu Society:

Whereas the social and economic conditions of people in rural and remote areas of the country are such that fair opportunity is still not available to all of them for self-development and realization of their potential;

Whereas several Hindu organizations and religious institutions are doing very valuable social service in the fields of education, public health etc., in the areas within their reach;

Whereas it is necessary to explore the scope for complementary and synergy in such Seva work;

 *IT IS RESOLVED:*

That on behalf of the Hindu Dharma Acharya Sabha appropriate mechanisms shall be established to realize the benefits of such coordination, complementary and synergy.

 8. Operational Mandate:

Whereas the Hindu Dharma Acharya Sabha shall function as the body of high guidance and shall meet periodically at the national or the regional levels for:

a) taking stock periodically of the situation and concerns of Hindus in the country and elsewhere; and

b) pursuing the efforts to implement the foregoing resolutions and decisions taken from time to time.

Whereas a permanent Secretariat is proposed to be set at Delhi to:

b) function as a coordinating unit and clearing house of mutually useful information; and

c) operate a central data-base available for the use of constituents of the Hindu Acharya Dharma Sabha and Dharma Samstha Pramukh Sabha engaged in economic and social upliftment of the Hindu populace.

Bitter truth about Kashmir

Kashmir is the Defining Issue of Indian Identity by Dr. Subramanian Swamy.

[Lecture on July 9, 2008 to Indian students and Americans scholars at MIT, USA]
I believe that the Kashmir “issue” can no more be solved by dialogue either with the Pakistanis or the Hurriyat. This is because the Pakistan army has now a majority of captains and colonels owing allegiance to the Taliban. In another five years, they will reach, by promotions, the corp commander level. We know that the government in Pakistan is controlled by the seven corp commanders of the army. Therefore a Taliban government in Pakistan is inevitable and a jehad against India the logical consequence of the same. In turn the Hurriyat is an organization that cannot go against Pakistan. Hence India has about five years to prepare for a decisive and defining war with Pakistan and we must prepare to win it. We therefore have to throw out of office in the coming elections all those Indian politicians who crave or preen themselves on being popular in Pakistan by sounding reasonable and secular as also equivocating on every issue. For the survival of the ancient civilization of India we have to win that inevitable war and recover the whole of Kashmir.
I will not blame the jehadis for the coming war. They are after all programmed that way by Islamic theology. I will blame ourselves for not understanding the fundamentals of Islam as propounded in the Sira and the Hadith. It teaches that if Muslims are in a majority, they must rule [Darul Islam], and then everyone else is a dhimmi and a kafir who do not have equal rights of worship. Thus in Saudi Arabia, you cannot even display a picture of a Hindu god inside your own home ! When Muslims are in a hopeless minority, then Sira and Hadith urges Muslims to make a deal with the majority and make no demands[Darul Ahad]. In US and Australia for example, Muslims will therefore never ask for separate shariat personal law. If Muslims are not hopelessly in a minority, then Islam directs that true Muslims conduct subversions and act against all human values to leverage their position[Darul Harab] to become of defining influence in the polity and ultimately rulers. We saw this in Kashmir recently when the government was made to cave in on the most humane gesture of allotting land to make Hindu pilgrims feel comfortable while on arduous journey to Amarnath caves.And we have it on the authority of the Chief Minister of the state that the agitation against the allotment was financed by Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
It is foolish therefore in the face of this reality to expound the banal sentiment that “all Muslims are not terrorists or fanatics”. Of course that is true. Or that Koran is a message of peace. May be it is. However, the Islam of the cutting edge of Muslim thought propounded by leaders such as Osama Bin Laden is in Sira and Hadith, which calls on the faithful to wage war against the infidels who cannot strike back effectively and crush them.
The struggle for Kashmir by the jehadis thus is not just for independence. They instead want a Darul Islam there and for the state to become a part of the Caliphate. Hindus are a special target because despite Iran, Iraq, Egypt and other countries becoming 100 percent Muslims after less than two decades of conquest and brutalization, India after a thousand years of massacres, mayhem and rape remained dominantly Hindu. This is a living affront for the fundamentalist Muslim, and in their seminaries and madrassas in Iran and Saudi Arabia, they even today debate and agonize over it.
Contrary to the British imperialist propaganda, Hindus did not just lie down and be conquered by foreign invaders. Hindu fighting spirit had never dimmed even if weakened by traitors within. Periodically Hindus rose in revolt symbolized by the Vijayanagaram empire[which lasted 300 years] or in Shivaji’s bravery, or Guru Gobind Singh’s campaigns or the Mahratta national onslaught.
Most of us thus remained Hindus, defiant, even if in poverty and misery singing Vande Mataram. This the true history of India which the fundamentalist Muslim and the British imperialist historians cannot bear to acknowledge.
Accommodation and compromise with Islamic terrorists is self-defeating and suicide. We have instead to fight back, for which Kashmir is the starting point. Hindu renaissance, long overdue, will be nurtured if we look for an opportunity to seize back the occupied areas of Kashmir, and make the jehadis feel that in India there can only be Darul Ahad for Muslims. We had opportunities earlier to demonstrate that: e.g.,in 1948, 1971, 1999, and 2001. But we let it go.
Hence, let there be no more intellectual confusion about the identity of India as a Hindu Rashtra, which means a land of Hindus and those others who acknowledge proudly that their ancestors are Hindus. If Muslims acknowledge this truth, then they are welcome as a part of our family. And those who do not so acknowledge cannot be equal citizens in India. Hence, we shall not agree to any more truncation of Indian territory.
We have to therefore disown UN Resolutions and India-Pakistan treaties such as signed in Simla]1972] as unauthorized Nehruvian policy blunders. The legality of the Instrument of Accession signed in favour of India by the then Maharaja of J&K on October 26, 1947 has to prevail. Otherwise it will create a plethora of legal issues including what will become the status of the Maharaja if we abrogate this Instrument. Will Dr. Karan Singh, the son of Maharaja Hari Singh, have then a claim to be regarded again as an independent and sovereign King of J&K ? In the Junagadh issue, Pakistan had held the Instrument once signed is “final, irrevocable, and not requiring the wishes of the people to be ascertained”. That is the correct position. But the Junagadh Nawab after signing the Instrument in favour of Pakistan, invaded the neighbouring princely states, states which had acceded to India. So when the Indian Army was moved by Patel to defend these areas, the Nawab ran away to Pakistan. His subjects were mostly Hindu who then welcomed the Indian army.
Furthermore, on what legal basis can we de novo seek to ascertain the wishes of the people of J&K when the Indian Independence Act[1947] passed by the British Parliament makes no provision for the same ? After all it was this same Act which created a legal entity called Pakistan, carved out from the united India. India under the Act was a settled and continuing entity out which the British Parliament made a new entity called Pakistan. Never in previous history there was ever a country called Pakistan. The concept itself was formulated only in 1947.
By what mechanism can then Pakistan today seek to amend or even de-recognise the Act without unwittingly undermining the legal status of Pakistan itself? That is, if the Instrument of Accession is called into question, will not Partition itself be subject to challenge as without legal basis on the same consideration? I raise this question also because in the case of Beruberi in Eastern India, the transfer of that area to Bangla Desh although agreed to, has been enmeshed in prolonged litigation in the Indian Supreme Court because of Article 1 of the Indian Constitution which bars de-merger of any Indian territory after 1950.
Indian army jawans created Bangla Desh out of Pakistan. But despite that, and drunk with their Darul Islam status, the Bengali Muslims have not only driven out the Hindus or butchered them or forcibly converted them but millions of Bengali Muslims have sneaked into India and are happily working with Hindus in India. Partition was agreed to by Hindus only for those Muslims who could not bear to live under Hindu hegemony. And now after getting their territory, they cannot now say that they are happy to live in India with Hindus.
Hence, a virat Hindu Rashtra should tell Bangla Desh to take back their Muslims or hand over one-third of Bangla Desh territory as compensation. If they do not agree, then we must send two divisions of Indian army from Sylhet to Khulna and annex one third of north Bangla Desh as our due for bearing the economic and political burden of Bangla Deshis in our country. This will make our access to Assam and Northeast much easier too.But most of all it will send a powerful and salutary signal to Pakistani terrorists: that Hindus will no more be passive.
These actions are possible if we gear up diplomatically for it. Today the world is sick of the terrorism and the greed of Muslims nations to make money out the sale of oil which they have got by sheer accident of geology. Hence, we must make strong allies. Israel is one such country. We must find ways to make China see our interests. It can be done if we know how to come to an understanding with them. This is essential for isolating Pakistan. At present China has begun to see the tinder box that Pakistan has become. Uighurs from Xinjiang have been to madrassas of Pakistan for training in subversion in Urumuchi and to sabotage the Beijing Olympics This worries China. It should concern us too.
Hence to lay the foundation for the liberation of Kashmir, we must have President’s Rule for some time. India should refuse to engage in any dialogue on Kashmir in which the other side does not accept the whole of Kashmir as an integral and inalienable part of India. The people of Kashmir should be left in no doubt in their minds where the citizens of Hindu Rashtra stand on the future of the state: that it lies with us. Every Hindu has a claim on Kashmir. I for one claim it because my gotra is Kashyapa. It was rshi Kashyapa who invented Kashmir out the Dal lake. Hence my claim. We should undo the “cleansing” of the state of Kashmiri Hindu Pandits by sending 1 million ex-servicemen and families into the Kashmir valley for re-settlement. Article 370 of the Constitution will have to be removed for that purpose, but according to the Constitution itself, it is supposed to be a “temporary provision” not requiring a Parliamentary two-thirds majority for amendment. It can be erased by a Presidential Notification on the recommendation of the Union Cabinet.
Then we await a war. We do not have to go to war with Pakistan on Kashmir because a Talibanised Pakistan will provide us with the opportunity. What I am advocating here is that we prepare mentally and militarily for that eventuality, and having been provided that opportunity, go for the jackpot– to use an American slang.

Preserve and Perpetuate Sanatana Dharma

SOME CONTENT REQUIRE CITATION

Sanatana Dharma in Danger

Sanathana Dharma is the most ancient tradition known to human race. It is from the time of creation of this universe. The conception of time in Vedas is cyclic consisting of infinite repetition of four yugas namely Krta, Dvapara, Thretha and Kali yuga. Amongst the four yugas the Krta Yuga is the golden period characterized by high standards of dharma followed by people in general and it slowly declines by one quarter as it passes on to the next Yuga.

Kali Yuga

The Kali Yuga being the last of the four ages is characterized by dramatic fall in standards of dharma by majority of people in general. That is why its called Kali Yuga the age of quarrel and hypocrisy. People will be grossly ignorant of dharmic way of living. Anything will be judged as good or bad on the basis if it’s favorable to oneself or not. The rulers will be grossly impious and would rule by hypocrisy and deception. They will never give any consideration for dharma and they will be ready to do anything and everything to satisfy their greed for power and money. The Srimad Bhagavatam compiled more than 5000 years ago by Srila Vyasa muni captures the current state of affairs so vividly. You can see it here.

Threat to Sanatana Dharma

Now today Sanatana dharma is under threat. Unscrupulous politicians emboldened by muscle power and money power are directly or indirectly contributing to the gradual degradation of Sanatana dharma. They even call our venerable gods as a figment of imagination. And general people being ignorant and unmindful of all these different happenings are unknowingly contributing to the gradual degradation. You can know more on how Sanatana dharma is under threat in this article. It’s really an eye opener.

Here is another soul stirring research by an American follower of Sanatana Dharma Dr Stephen Knapp about the need to get the act together.

Action Items

So what can be done to preserve the Sanata Dharma.

Internal

Nobody can change the course of time. It is by the Supreme Lord’s arrangement that he allows Kali and his representatives to gain an upper hand. But even though the Kali Yuga is an ocean of faults the Lord has given the way how those who would like to be free from evil influence of Kali see here. Also Kali Yuga is a boon for those who would like to perfect their lives. Seeing the wretched condition of the worldly situation and distress and suffering afflicting all the time one naturally develops frustration and seeks solace which is always available in the process of Krishna consciousness and gradually becomes free from bondage.

External

The first and foremost thing to do is to preach authentic Sanathana Dharma to people. The lack of it that is the prime cause of the apathy amongst the followers of Sanatana Dharma (Shall we call them Hindus). Srila Prabhupada the founder acharya of the Krishna consciousness movement would say there is nothing lacking in this world except the Krishna consciousness. And that is the ultimate solution for all social ills. This would lead to the next phase when Hindus can really identify what is in the interest of practicing and preserving Sanatana Dharma and unite for the common cause.
Th other things we can do are,

Much like Lord Krishna says in Bhagavad Gita padma patra ivambhasa like a lotus leaf in water or a smart tortoise using its limbs when required. All other religious followers do this mob voting to the parties favourable to them and they reap the benefits. So the pseudo-secular parties reap the minority votes and with the divided Hindu community they can safely hope to capture power.

Conclusion

Awake! Arise! and do something to save Sanathana Dharma.

‘|’Dharma raksati raksitah|” - Dharma protects those who protect it. - Mahabharata

Marginalisation of Brahminical culture

Marginalisation of Brahminical Culture!

Introduction

According to Rig Veda the Brahmanas are the elite class in the varnashrama system consisting of people well versed in the vedic literatures. They enjoyed various rights and were patronised by the kings for their various virtuous qualities and vast learning. They used serve in various capacities like advising the kings, conducting vedic rituals for the well being of the entire population. So they were held in a high esteem by the rulers and general populace alike. But over a period of time some kind complecency had set in and the virtuous qualities slowly gave way to exploitative mentality in some of them in some parts of India. However in Today’s India, Brahmins have been reduced to an identification of a particular caste who although are hardly different from anyone else taking up regular jobs, for some reason they have become the neglected and abused lot of the Indian ruling class be it the Muslim rulers, the British or present democratic pseudo secular politicians.

As we shall see later in the article there are few historical reasons why Brahminical culture has dwindled, partly because internal decline in values within the community and complete disregard and abuse of the ruling class ignorant of vedic system. Due the decline in virtue and rampant abuse of their position and political clout by some Brahmins in the medieval India. People in general had lost respect and became illusioned with the varnashrama system and today its vestige is the much condemned and misqouted caste system. There have many social movements who had worked in the last few centuries against the caste system like Mahatma Gandhi’s Harijan movement etc to emancipate the oppressed caste. And also with the India becoming democratic republic things of discrimination and oppression is virtually non existent. Even if there are some certainly it is not due to the Brahmins.

Indian history has forgotten great tyrannical muslim rulers who have killed scores of Hindus and ruled by subjugation, but for some politically motivated agenda brahmins have somehow becoming pariah in their own land. This has resulted in Brahmins disowning their own culture and practices because their identification as Brahmin has only brought them neglect and abuse. So the tradition they have been preserving has fallen into neglect obviously there will be no question of propagating their culture. This has definitely brought about denudation of Vedic culture to great extent. Here is an article from Indian Express on the subject, Let’s analyse the same from a vedic perspective.

Brahmins the neglected

The first article published by rediff on Brahmins as an underprivileged community, brought a flurry of reactions, mostly of surprise: “What, Brahmins as toilet cleaners, coolies, rickshaw pullers, priests earning less than Rs 150 a month… How is it possible, we always thought that Brahmins were a rich, fat, arrogant community?” Many Brahmins and other upper castes expressed online their relief that someone was speaking about their plight, that for once they were not attacked, made fun of, ridiculed. Of course there were also a few hostile e-mails, accusing the author of upper casteism, of anti-Dalits bias. One would have thought however, that at a time when reservation was the hottest journalistic topic, the media would have seized this story and made it its own. After all, isn’t impartial journalism to show both sides of the story?

Don’t you think, for instance, that the discovery that all 50 Sulabh Shauchalayas (public toilets) in Delhi are cleaned and looked after by Brahmins — traditionally the task of the lowest of the lowest caste — and that this noble institution was started by a Brahmin, Dr Bindeshwar Pathak, makes a wonderful story, both for the print and electronic media? That is what I believed, at any rate. So when I discovered that the Art of Living Foundation was conducting workshops for all coolies, irrespective of their religion and caste of the Delhi railway station — and that quite a few of them were Brahmins — I thought I could share this story and the Sulabh Shauchalayas scoop, with a few journalistic acquaintances, who would jump on it with glee. Unfortunately I was very wrong. Initially, some young journalists were enthusiastic and joined us in our investigation.

Not for Secular Media

We expected the story to hit the headlines soon and be taken up by the entire press, hungry for something different than the strike of the medicos, or Arjun Singh’s adamant attitude. But nothing happened. We called them day after day, proposed some more data, but still no story came out. Then one of the young journalists, working for one of the largest media outfits in India told us off the record that the sub-editor, backed by the editor, had killed the story in true journalistic freedom. The second scenario we encountered was stone silence: the star anchors, bureau chiefs, editors of national English newspapers whom I personally contacted, either did not return my calls or were evasive. Third scenario: Downright hostility: “You’re a right winger, a pro-BJP-RSS journalist” etc. What does truth and investigative journalism have to do with the BJP (who by the way did no more than the Congress for the Kashmiri Brahmins, for instance, when it was in power)? I don’t know. Some journalists, initially willing to do a story, backed out after some time under the pretext that the data was not solid enough. Not solid enough?

Reservation Politics

Dr Ambedhkar one of the important member playing a crucial rolein framing the Indian Constitution made provisions to create reservations for the underprivileged scheduled caste and tribes. The original provision mentions that reservation should be time bound and should be ultimately discontinued. It had been done with an intention of giving the “under privileged” a chance.

The Indian democrarcy no doubt had been a liberating force for many but it had eventually became a play toy in the hands of oppurtunistic corrupt politicians. From the time of the introduction of Mandal commision in 1970’s political parties have been vying against each other to portray themselves as the champions of “oppressed class” to garner the vote banks of minorities and “under privileged”.

Although the constitution has declared that reservation in any sector shall not exceed more than fifty percent. They have repeatedly amended for political gains, and in many states they are close to 75 percentage.An after effect of this is that the quality of students in educational institutions and the performance of public sector undertakings have dropped alarmingly. This has resulted in not only rampant corruption and decline in quality. The consequence of this is the Brhamins who donot benifit from this reservation packages are in a weak position even though they come from an economically weaker background and have high qualification they can’t compete with the rests who enjoy benifits of reservation . So they have been resorting to unconventional areas like above which they have never ventured into or they have to leave the country seeking better livelihood.

Where did the rot start?

Does flimsy and unchecked data ever stop the Indian media to publish slanderous stories in the recent past? Then, I came to the conclusion that more than fifty years later, the Nehruvian culture which directly brainwashed two generations of Indians in certain thinking patterns, has survived today. Actually, you have to go farther back than Nehru. For Jawaharlal was a true end product of Macaulay’s policy of creating Indians who would be Indians by the colour of their skins, but British in their thinking.

Thus, the English outlook on India survives today in India’s intellectual class, particularly the journalists, who often cast a Westernised, anti-spiritual, pro-minority, anti-majority, un-Indian, anti-Brahmins and other upper castes — look on their own country. It is true that Nehru started from a positive volition: How to solve India’s huge class and caste disparity? How to appease a Muslim minority which ruled India ruthlessly for ten centuries and was not ready to be ruled by those who were for a long time Islam’s pliant subjects? But Nehru went overboard. He made the paupers of yesteryear the saints of modern India, allowing some states to literally hound out Brahmins and other upper castes. He twisted history and thanks to docile historians, made of cruel Muslim invaders and rulers, the benefactors of medieval India. He went to the extent of excusing the razing and sacking of thousands of exquisite temples all over India, by saying that Muslim invaders such as Babar did it because these temples were full of hidden gold and jewels, damning again indirectly the poor hapless Brahmins, who were beheaded by Muslim invaders, crucified in Goa by the Portuguese Inquisition, vilified by British missionaries, and morally crucified today by their own brothers and sisters.

Thanks to the lingering influence of Nehruvianism, ‘Brahmins’ remain today a dirty word, even in the face of reality: that Dalits have considerably come up since 1947 in Indian society, that no nation in the world has done so much for its underprivileged (India had a Dalit President).

Vedic Observer

Lord Krishna says in Bhagavad Gita, 18.42,
Peacefulness, self-control, austerity, purity, tolerance, honesty, knowledge, wisdom and religiousness — these are the natural qualities by which the brāhmaṇas work. By saying that he has set the standard of who is a true brahmana. And he mentions that one does not become brahmana by birth but by his conditioning and activities. But he has declared himself to be the protector of brahmanical culture and emphasized the importance of its preservation.

The Vedas teach us A Brahmin was a Brahmin only if he cultivated the spiritual temperament and acquired the spiritual training which alone would qualify him for the task. But once Brahmanism became hereditary, arrogance, complacency and casteism became rampant, ultimately bringing the downfall of Brahmins. That is also predicted to happen in Kali Yuga.

Srimad Bhagavatam gives some importance to people born in brahmana family but have not acquired the qualities of a brahmana. It gives them a special name called dvija bandhu and regards them as someone having a potential for becoming a brahmana. So although the current brahmins maynot be regarded as brahmins. They at least have a potential to be dvija bandhus. And there are brahmins who try their best to live by the scriptures. So to have cynical attitude towards everyone is incorrect. And it is an irrefutable fact that the Sanatana Dharma is what it is today because of the rituals preserved by the caste brahmins. The gorgeous temples of South India especially have been maintained and run by the traditional brahmins.
Although there may have been some excesses commited by Brhamins in the past that cannot be taken as a reason to condemn Brahminical culture. Jesus Christ says condemn the sin not the sinner. In that principle we should make every effort to preserve the existing Brahminical culture.

In this spirit the Government of India should act by the constitution which guarantees equality in treatment to all. They should end the neglect of Brahmins and encourage a non-caste based brahminical culture under the supervison of learned authorities. This is the duty of kshatriyas or administrators.

A Truth Quote

As the embodied soul continuously passes, in this body, from boyhood to youth to old age, the soul similarly passes into another body at death. A sober person is not bewildered by such a change.
